Collection is a mechanic in CookieRun: Ovenbreak released with the first half of the Simmering Syrup Sauna update. It serves as a recorder for the player's history in the game, involving simple images based on particular Cookies, Pets, and sceneries. By playing the game, new Collections can be unlocked, rewarding Gold Gems. Additionally, all the Player's records regarding Costumes, Jelly Shapes, and Stories are stored in the Collection system.

Description

This is how the Collection System looks in its entirety.

The Collection system was introduced as a consolitory measure, in that it combined the game's Costume Wardrobe, Jelly Atlas, and Story tab under one single tab, alongside the Collection Book. Now, all the player's cosmetics and stories are stored in the same place, instead of being spread out over multiple tabs.

While this move did not change anything significant regarding the content of the previous tabs beyond the re-organization, there were two important changes made. First, the game's music while in each location was changed to a new track, involving a simple museum-styled tune, instead of the previous shop music and Time Balance Department music heard before. Second, a new system was implemented regarding the Stories section, Story Keys; these unlock a chapter from a previous story the player had not experienced, at a cost of ten Story Keys per unlocked chapter. Hence, all the previous stories are now on display in the Story section, regardless of if the player obtained them or not. Story keys require completing specific missions to obtain, with each mission providing 1 or 2 keys, depending on the difficulty.

Collections Book

The Collections Book is the center of the Collection system, and is reminiscent of a scrapbook; when one of the images is first encountered, the background is there, but some parts of the scenery are blackened out with a dotted oval around them. These correspond to missions the player has yet to fulfill; as the player fulfills these missions, more parts of the scenery become added, until the photo is complete. Each completed collection rewards 50 Gold Gems, with collections finished within the first two weeks of being added also rewarding 50 Rainbow Cubes. Up to three completed collections can be added to the player's profile, with one displaying larger than the others. Completed collections have the characters move a bit on the Collections tab, but not on the player's profile.

Each completed page rewards the player with ten Collection Points, which add up to the player's Collection Score; the Collection Score rewards the player with 1,000 Crystals for every 1,000 Collection Points earned, up to 10,000 Collection Points. As of March 6th, 2024, only 363 Collection pages exist; therefore, it is currently only possible for players to collect three of these ten rewards. Some pages also involve acquiring Pet Costumes, many of which can only be purchased with money; therefore, certain collection pages require some money to be spent on.

While the specific missions involved with Collection Book pages varies, they can be broken down into a few sets of missions for each type of page.

As of March 29, 2024, only updates following & including Escape from the Oven! have Collection Book pages.

Changelog
