CookieRun: Kingdom (previously named Cookie Run: Kingdom and also known as CRK) is a free-to-play RPG and city builder hybrid released by Devsisters. It is the second spin-off of the original game OvenBreak, as well as spin-off of CookieRun: OvenBreak. It was released on 19-21 January 2021, after much promotion and fanfare, with over three million downloads preregistered.

History[]

The earliest instance of the game's development becoming public knowledge was Devsisters ' 2017 planning. In it, CookieRun: Kingdom was announced and slated for a much earlier release. It later revitalized after the growing success of Devsisters' other two games in the series, CookieRun: OvenBreak and CookieRun: Puzzle World.

World Exploration[]

Story Mode[]

Story Mode is the standard mode, in which the player follows the group of GingerBrave, Strawberry Cookie, Wizard Cookie, Custard Cookie III and Chili Pepper Cookie on the game's storyline.

Dark Mode[]

Dark Mode or Cookies of Darkness is a more difficult optional mode unlocked after clearing level 3-25 and getting all stars in the Story Mode episode. Alongside the difficultly increase, players can earn Cookie Soulstones by clearing levels. While it uses the same overworld as Story Mode, it is darkened and levels have been renamed.

Master Mode[]

Master Mode is the hardest mode currently in Cookie Run: Kingdom's Story Mode. To get to Master mode, the player will have to finish Story Mode Episode 10. Players can earn Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary 'Essences'/'Soulstones' when clearing the mode.

Arena Battle[]

Arena Battle is an online mode where players can battle each other's cookie teams. Winning against other teams gives the player trophies and rank up points, which depending on how strong the team was- will vary. At the end of the season, the player's rank is reset and given a gift, which also varies, depending on the player's rank. Losing against other teams will make the player lose trophies.

Players can have an attacking team and a defending team. The defending team is what other players will attack. If the defending team loses, the team who defeated the defending team will show up on the defending team's record list. The attacking team is the player's main team, which attacks other defending teams.

Bounties[]

Bounties are a game mode akin to a smaller scale raid or material farming stage system. Players are able to select a five Cookie team and defeat varying levels of Skill Powders to level the Skills of their Cookies. Skill Powders come in three tiers of rarity.

Tower of Sweet Chaos[]

Tower of Sweet Chaos is a permanent game mode in CookieRun: Kingdom, where players enter multiple levels of challenges to earn rewards. It was released on 12 May 2021 in the Tiers of Chaos update, and is unlocked once a player clears Stage 4-12 in World Exploration.

Cookie Alliance[]

Cookie Alliance is a game mode that is unlocked after clearing stage 10-31 in World Exploration. players create 5 teams of 5 cookies each to battle waves of enemies, with every 4 waves being a boss. There are 6 levels of increasing difficulty. The better a player does, the better rewards they get, such as Guild Relics and Artifact Points to make the team stronger, and other miscellaneous rewards. At the end of the season, players get rewards based on how many points the player and their guild earned that season.

Trial Grounds[]

Trial Grounds is a game mode where the player can obtain Life Jewels to create Crystal Jams (Magic Candy for Legendary Cookies). The player creates a team, which requires the cookie you are getting the Life Jewels for. Players get more Life Jewels for completing harder stages, and You get 7 battles a week, and you can get an extra 3 a week by buying the Kingdom Pass.

Guild Battle[]

Guild Battle is a game mode where you battle 3 bosses. Guilds work together to defeat the bosses, and when the guild defeats a boss, everyone gets rewards and the Guild gets Guild Trophies. At the end of the season, everyone in the Guild gets rewards based on the amount of Guild Trophies the Guild obtained.

Cookie Odyssey[]

Cookie Odyssey is a game mode unlocked after clearing stage 12-30 which follows a story about the Crème Republic. Players use Odyssey Quills, which are gained through a series of missions, to unlock parts of stories. There are 3 chapters, which are each divided into days.

Trivia[]

  • CookieRun: Kingdom was teased around September 2020.
  • CookieRun: Kingdom is the first CookieRun game in the series to have voice actors for the Cookies, albeit the option was only provided with Korean voices. Japanese and English dubs were later announced around April 2021, and samples of both dubs were gradually shared on official social media accounts starting in August 2021. The English dub was released on 8 October 2021. Newer dubs has been arrived in Q2 2022.
