Cookie Run: OvenSmash is a multiplayer online battle arena game developed by Devsisters. In this game, players battle each other by controlling a growing cast of new and returning Cookies with unique battle skills in a variety of game modes. It is set to release in 2025.

Gameplay[]

Players fight against each other in a variety of game modes, mostly in a 3v3 format. Players control their Cookies in a top-down perspective and attack other players. Every Cookie can perform a basic attack and a special ability with a short cooldown, and an ultimate attack with long cooldown. The basic attack and special ability can be held to auto-aim, or can be aimed for more precise control. In most game modes, getting knocked out will respawn the players after a short time.

The following game modes are currently present in the game:

  • A battle royale mode, where every Cookie are on their own. Cookies collect Power Jellies to increase their health and attack, increasing survival chances. These can be obtained from crates or knocking down other Cookies. The stage itself also possesses periodic hazards. The last Cookie standing wins.
  • A 3v3 showdown mode, where the first team to reach a set amount of knockouts wins.
  • A 3v3 escort mode, where a water cannon turtle will slowly move towards the opposite team's sandcastle. The attacking team progresses by staying around the turtle, while the opposing team tries to stop them and seize control.
  • a 3v3 looting mode, where the first team to collect a set amount of Gold Bars and retain it for a while wins. A Gold Bar generates at the center of stage every few second. Cookies can knockout the opposing team's Cookies to drop their Gold Bars and steal those. If both teams retain the set amount of Gold Bars, the highest number wins.

Each Cookie has two types of basic attacks, special abilities and ultimate attacks, as well as a bunch of passive effects. The player can only equip one of each type of attack as well as two passives. Cookies can be leveled up to increase their health and attack damage.

Pre-release[]

Early preview & demo[]

On January 2022, it was announced that Devsisters would release three new games within that year to expand on the Cookie Run franchise, following the success of Cookie Run: Kingdom. These games include OvenSmash, Witch's Castle and Project B (now known as Tower of Adventures). OvenSmash was set to launch on Steam and mobile devices, with a future Nintendo Switch release.

A private beta test was held around early 2022, before publicly revealing its gameplay in the DevNow 2022 presentation. A public demo was available at TwitchCon 2022.

Press A, the studio working on OvenSmash, would later suffer financial losses after the failure of their other game, SIDE BULLET (formerly DEAD CIDE CLUB), leading to internal transfers to other studios in Devsisters. OvenSmash's development was assumed to be on hold or cancelled.

Closed Beta Test[]

On March 20th, 2025, a new trailer showcases OvenSmash, completely reworked from its initial 2022 demo version, and is initially available only on mobile devices. Pre-registration for this game were available from March 20th to April 15th, 2025. A PC release (through Google Play Games) is planned for future.
