CookieRun: Tower of Adventures is a game developed by Devsisters, that was released in June 26, 2024. It features hack and slash action rpg with a 3D art style, with a linear stage-based progression system.

Gameplay[]

There are currently 6 game modes in CookieRun: Tower of Adventures.

Story Mode[]

Story Mode is the game's main mode, featuring GingerBrave's adventure to seal the Oven in The Pancake Tower. Playable solo or with 2 players, it spans 8 chapters. Each stage within the chapters has 3 objectives, rewarding 1-3 Star Coal pieces based on completion. Star Coal powers the Star Coal Express, and collecting all in a chapter earns 20 Basic Cookie Tickets.

Bear Jellies, found or earned by defeating enemies, can be exchanged for items, with different types available every two chapters. Hard Mode introduces tougher levels, more Bear Jellies, and Flawless Mode, adding new items to the shop.

Completing stages grants first and repeat rewards. As of the July 2, 2024 update, fastest completion times are recorded, with weekly Time Attack! competitions on three random stages.

Raid Mode[]

Raid Mode is a multiplayer mode where players team up to defeat Story Mode bosses, with five difficulty levels requiring increasing power. Players can invite up to 3 others to form a party, with the lobby's sky and music changing based on difficulty.

Rewards include Equipment Fragments, Bundles, and Weapon Schematics, with higher levels offering trophies that unlock Epic+ chests. Each season, two elements get a +30% attack bonus. After each raid, players receive random chests, some of which may be upgraded to Rainbow by the Coco Drop Fairy.

Glass Labyrinth[]

The Glass Labyrinth, introduced in the November 2023 playtest, unlocks at Train Level 25. In this single-player mode, players face up to 3 stages of enemies, each providing buffs based on elements used. Players can use up to two Cookies per stage, but each Cookie can only be used once per stage.

The mode has two sections: the Labyrinth of Remembrance and the Infinite Labyrinth. The Labyrinth of Remembrance offers 10 trials with rewards only for the first completion, while the Infinite Labyrinth, added in July 2024, is a weekly event cycling between two chapters. Players earn points and chests with Scrolls of Enhancement based on their ranking.

Seasoning Dungeons[]

The Seasoning Dungeons consist of three modes for quickly earning EXP Potions, Coins, and Ascensionite. Each mode costs 20 Heart Jellies, offers random pouches of rewards, and requires an S+ rating to unlock new stages. S+ stages can be instantly cleared with Skip Tickets.

  • Hexagon Bee Forest unlocks at Train Level 3 and provides EXP Potions. Players must defeat a large beehive while avoiding hazards. The recommended elements are Water, Wind, and Light.
  • Hangster Hideout unlocks at Train Level 6 and provides Coins. Players defeat as many common enemies as possible. Recommended elements are Fire, Earth, and Darkness.
  • Ascensionite Mine unlocks at Train Level 16 and provides Ascensionite. Players protect an excavator from a 3-minute enemy wave. There are a total of 6 Stages to complete for each type of Ascensionite, making a total of 36 stages.

Tower Rift[]

TBA Cookie

The Tower Rift is a gamemode available from Train Level 20 onwards. It involves defeating four waves of common enemies, referred to in this mode as "Mirages", before fighting a mini-boss. Each run of the Tower Rift randomly chooses one of the seven Chapters in Story Mode for its enemies, but the format is consistent in that after Wave 2, a rift appears; each wave contains 32 monsters; and each miniboss is preceded by a group of 12 basic enemies.

The Tower Rift gives all three grades of Artisan's Sugar, as well as a chance to earn different rarities of Equipment, and Special Equipment Fragments; additionally, this is the only place in which Scrolls of Potential can be obtained. The reccomended element cycles in a consistent pattern, changing one step every 24 hours since midnight (GMT +9); the path is Dark, Fire, Water, Wind, Light, Earth, All, and then loops back to Dark on the 8th day.

Guild[]

The Guild feature was first revealed on the November 17, 2023 playtest, and made usable on the final release from level 7 (2,265 EXP) onwards. A guild can contain up to five players and each player can request resources from other members; currently, the only resource that can be requested is Heart Jellies. In game, clicking on the Guild button shows the Guild member's Cookie representatives moving around a tavern. Up to 30 members can be in a guild, and checking into a guild gives 5,000 Coins, and 50 Crystals on every seventh day.

Guilds can level up as guild members play the game, with contribution points being given out for completing any game mode in different amounts;

  • Checking in daily gives 50 points
  • Assisting Guild Requests gives 10 points
  • Clearing a Raid in Raid Mode gives 100 points
  • Clearing a Seasoning Dungeon or a Tower Rift gives 20 points

At Level 5, the daily rewards given are doubled from that of the base rewards; at Level 10, they are tripled.

Upgradeable Mechanics[]

Cookies[]

Currently, there are a total of 23 Cookies playable by the time of the game's initial release; 5 Common, 5 Rare, and 10 Epic. Only one Cookie at a time can be placed in the Lobby and in Raid Mode, while three can be used per stage in Story mode. Each Cookie can be assigned Four pieces of equipment (One of each; Weapon, Headwear, Bodywear, Legwear), and one Artifact.

Each Cookie is given one of six possible elements; Dark, Light, Earth, Water, Fire, or Wind. These elements are used in a number of ways by the game; specifically, they are used to determine which Cookies get additional damage dealt in Game Modes, and some of the Cookies are capable of tagging enemies with their element. When tagged, damage dealt to the enemy charges up a repeating meter, which deals additional "STRIKE" damage when filled (it fills faster when Cookies of the matching element deal damage).

During the first playtest on November 17, 2023, the following Cookies were available to play as:

During the January 19, 2024 Closed Beta testing, an additional four Cookies became available:

As of July 16, the full list of playable Cookies is as follows, sorted by rarity and first playable appearance:

Pre-release[]

Prior to the game's first official trailer, it was known in promotional material as Project B.

November 17, 2023[]

During the Google Play Games summit from November 17, 2023, to November 26, 2023 (GMT +9), an open playtest was released for all users via the Google Play Games beta app. It featured the first two floors of the Pancake Tower, two Raid Mode bosses (Berry Bat and Shamonkey), and a total of six available Cookies. If the player beat the entirety of the available story mode, they were then given an award of 1,000 Cookie Ascension Stones (a prototypical, non-elemental version of Ascensionite), 200 Basic Draw Tickets, and 10 million coins. The size of this reward was due to this being the end of the playtest, and this allowed the players to play the game to a fuller degree as a reward for the remainder of the testing period; the statistics did not carry over to the game's final release.

During this playtest, the game's lobby had a mechanic for passive rewards, known as the Blueberry Bird's Treasure Trove. The Blueberry Bird will collect items over time, which can be collected after a few minutes for rewards; the longer the player waits, the more rewards will be given, and the bag in-game will increase from a coin coffer, to a shopping bag, and finally to a suitcase. When the bag has just recently been claim, a Blueberry Bird will be seen on it sleeping, getting a coin dropped on its head every 10 seconds. This mechanic was removed from the January 19, 2024 playtest, and the final release.

January 19, 2024[]

During the Mobile summit from January 19, 2024 to February 4, 2024 (GMT +9), a closed playtest was released for selected users via the Google Play store (Android) and TestFlight (iOS). It featured the previous first two floors as well as an additional two floors of the Pancake Tower, one new Raid boss (Barb & Konn) as well as a renewed boss (Berry Bat), and a total of ten available Cookies. Three days before the end of the beta testing period (February 1, 2024), all players received 10,000 Crystals, 50 Special Draw Tickets, 50 Basic Draw Tickets, 1 Random Super Epic Hat, 1 Random Super Epic Chest, 1 Random Super Epic Legs, 1 Random Unique Weapon, and 300 Skip Tickets. The size of this reward was due to this being the end of the playtest, and this allowed the players to play the game to a fuller degree as a reward for the remainder of the testing period; the statistics did not carry over to the final release.

During both this playtest and the previous November 17, 2023 playtest, each Cookie's dialogue bubbles and Cookie menu icons used a specialized 2D artwork; these artworks are no longer in the Final Game's files, being replaced by head icons and Gacha illustrations, respectively.
