“ CAST YOUR VOTE FOR THE BEST COSTUME! „
2021's Costume of the Year, otherwise known as VOTE! COSTUME OF THE YEAR was an event in Cookie Run: OvenBreak where players would vote for their favorite Costumes. The event started in the first half of the Super Fashion Week update, coinciding with the release of 
Sour Belt Cookie. From Round 3 onwards, players can leave a message for the voted Costumes, given that the messages are not inappropriate.
It is the first iteration of the in-game Costume of the Year, being very different from Costume of the Year 2019, which was hosted online via voting on Google Forms.
The winner of the event was 
Dread Trident of the Abyss, with 
Luminous Coral and 
Zephyr of Life being second and third place respectively.

Similar to the 2019 Cookie of the Year and 2020 Cookie of the Year, the vote has a mechanic where the Costumes are sorted into random brackets, with players voting for their preferred Costume out of the two featured for each bracket. The Costumes with the most votes will advance to the next round and everyone who voted for at least one Costume will get guaranteed rewards for the specific round.
Unlike the Cookie of the Year events however, this iteration of the Costume of the Year does not feature all Costumes in the game, with only featuring a select amount of 96 Costumes. The reasoning for the exclusion of most of the Costumes is officially unknown, but it could likely be due to the vast amount of Costumes in the game clashing with the limiting voting system, which would make the player spend a lot of time simply just voting.
As mentioned prior, the event, or otherwise the voting period, began on September 29th, 2021 and ended on October 10th. The results were finalized on October 14th. Almost a week later on October 20th, the official CookieRun Youtube Channel uploaded a video titled "BEST COOKIE RUN COSTUMES OF 2021", which revealed the top 24 Costumes in the event.
