That obstacle left me really weak... If I lose all my Energy, I'm doomed! No... I can't fall now...
GingerBrave GingerBrave in the Tutorial

Energy is a mechanic in Cookie Run: OvenBreak. It is the health or vitality of a Cookie. It slowly decays as the Cookie runs, and a large amount is lost when they hit an obstacle. Once a Cookie's Energy depletes completely, they will collapse and their run will end unless they have a way to revive. Many Pets have skills that affect Energy, typically by healing the Cookie, reviving them when they run out, or slowing the rate of the Cookie's Energy drain.

All Cookies have a maximum Energy level, which is the amount of Energy they have when they begin a run. This amount can be checked in the Cookie selection menu, and Cookies can be sorted by their Energy level. A Cookie's maximum Energy increases each time they level up. Most Cookies have around 300 Energy when fully leveled up, though this varies. Common Cookies, particularly Skater Cookie Skater Cookie, have lower maximums, and Werewolf Cookie Werewolf Cookie has by far the lowest at only 237. Other Legendary Cookies typically have higher maximums, especially Millennial Tree Cookie Millennial Tree Cookie, who can have up to 330 Energy.

Energy should not be confused with Stamina, which is the amount of times a single Cookie can run before becoming tired, or Affection, which is unrelated but similarly represented by a heart icon.

Losing Energy[]

Energy is passively lost at a constant rate while running and is dependent on the stage, there are some exceptions to this rule however, such as Bonus Time, the submarine sections in Lost City of Sugarteara and Deep Sea City Wandercrab or its other derivative maps, the secret rooms in Spooky Spider Mansion, Stage 3 of Fragrant Lotus Paradise, and some Cookie skills. Most stages in Land's End have a constant Energy drain rate of roughly 1.72 per second. The rate of Energy lost is increased when using the Cursed Goblet Cursed Goblet or Pistachio Cookie Pistachio Cookie, or when poisoned by the toxic gas seen in Dr. Wasabi & Mustard Cookie's Island of Memories, String Gummy Cookie's Trial and Devil Cookie's Trial. Energy loss can be temporarily decreased by Cookie and Pet skills like Rave Machine Rave Machine or Speaker Sandwich Speaker Sandwich and passively decreased by Pets like Angel Lightstick Angel Lightstick or Millennial Jade Deer Millennial Jade Deer. Fire Spirit Cookie Fire Spirit Cookie's Flame Dash and Thundersnow Yeti Thundersnow Yeti's Thundersnow Barrage both stop Energy from decaying while their skills are active, though Thundersnow Yeti does not make the Cookie immune to hazards. Other Cookies such as Dark Choco Cookie Dark Choco Cookie and Peperoncino Cookie Peperoncino Cookie have a passively decreased rate of Energy loss while running.

Falling in a pit will cause the Cookie to lose 5 Energy if they are rescued using a Rescue Ticket or Crystals, and end their run if they are not. Hitting an obstacle will cause the Cookie to lose 40 Energy (20 in low level content) if they do not have a shield or invincibility power of some kind. A higher Escape Level will reduce the amount of damage taken from hitting an obstacle, with 30% reduction available as a passive Escape Level bonus. Brain Gum Brain Gum and Oak Barrel Oak Barrel are examples of Pets who decrease the Energy lost on collision, while a relay who collects Pomegranate Cookie Pomegranate Cookie's Pomegranate Drop Jelly will lose more Energy on collision. Starting from The Battle for Fate update, there are levels that could have the Cookie instantly fall from colliding (without revives) and from Yogurt Dunes Escapade, levels that merely cause the Cookie to fall from colliding, but still give them the ability to revive.

Restoring Energy[]

Small potion

A mini Energy Potion.

Large potion

A large Energy Potion.

The main way of restoring Energy during a run is using Energy Potions, which come in two sizes. Mini Energy Potions are more common and restore 10 Energy, while less common Giant Energy Potions restore 40 Energy. Unique potions are created by a variety of Pets, such as Pocket Strawberry Pocket Strawberry, Lemon Slice Lemon Slice and Snow Globe Snow Globe, each generating 10 or 15 Energy (latter mostly for Pets who alternatingly generate both Potions and another power/point Jelly) at maximum level through different rates. Flamebeak Robin Flamebeak Robin also generates Potions worth 5 Energy, but at the rate of a Pet that generates one in three Potions worth 10 Energy. Pirate Cookie Pirate Cookie will pass through Potions without collecting them in his Ghost Pirate form although Energy can be restored directly for him in this form, and both Energy restoration effects (like from Dino Egg Dino Egg) and Potions also have no effect during a Last Blast unless they have additional effects during the run such as creating additional or converting Jellies. Some skills of both Cookies and Pets restore Energy without potions. For example, Milk Cookie Milk Cookie and BB Battery BB Battery will heal the Cookie directly, Earl Grey Cookie Earl Grey Cookie and Cinnamon Bunny Cinnamon Bunny create healing Jellies that function like Potions, Lifesaver Lifesaver and Carmine Rose Carmine Rose restores Energy from destroying obstacles.

There is no "over heal", that is, a Cookie can only be healed up to their starting Energy, and any further healing is wasted. If a Giant Energy Potion appears right at the start of a Breakout run, the Breakout Combi may need to be reorganized, perhaps so that the preceding Cookie could use a revive to reach it.

Death and Rebirth[]

Red Egg of Resurrection

The Red Egg of Resurrection is a popular Revival Treasure.

When Energy reaches zero, the Cookie will die when they next touch the ground. A skill that makes the Cookie invincible like Hero Cookie's Hero Mode can extend the run until the skill finishes, and a long double jump will extend the run ever so slightly, which may be just enough to reach a potion or activate a final skill. Even if more jumps are normally possible due to using Ninja Cookie Ninja Cookie or the Bubble Gum Spring Jumpers Bubble Gum Spring Jumpers, only a double jump is possible. Before the August 29, 2021 update, Cookies with the jump button locked to a skill when it finishes can only double jump after running out of Energy right when the first few frames the "Jump" button starts appearing.

After the Cookie dies, they can still get up if they have a revive ability. The Red Egg of Resurrection Red Egg of Resurrection and Winged Jelly of Resurrection are two reviving Treasures that function differently, and revives are provided from pets such as Celestial Star Celestial Star, Furball Pup Furball Pup, or Rosette Rosette. Some Cookies, such as Red Pepper Cookie Red Pepper Cookie, Blueberry Pie Cookie Blueberry Pie Cookie, and Ginseng Cookie Ginseng Cookie, have passive revives from their Magic Candies. Zombie Cookie Zombie Cookie is notable for having up to three revives if they are levelled up sufficiently. Some Pets will only revive under certain conditions. Fruit Doe Fruit Doe requires the Cookie to have collected ten Fig Jellies, and Panda Dumpling Panda Dumpling requires 1,000 coins to revive. Energy Scale Energy Scale also requires coins for its revive, though the amount of coins required is dependent on its level. Revives will not activate if a Cookie dies due to falling in a pit.

Once all available revives are used, a Last Blast will activate if the Divine Aurora Extract Flask Divine Aurora Extract Flask or an enhanced Red Egg of Resurrection Red Egg of Resurrection are equipped. Finally, this Cookie's run is over, and the option to summon the relay Cookie will be given in game modes where this is possible. Relay Cookies will start with only half of their maximum Energy. If the first Cookie does not use the revives provided by the Pet and Treasures because they fell in a pit or did not collect the required Coins or Jellies, the relay Cookie can use them. An enhanced Winged Jelly of Resurrection Winged Jelly of Resurrection and some Pets like Mr. Limeguard Mr. Limeguard, Magmabird Magmabird, or the aforementioned Celestial Star Celestial Star will revive both Cookies, though the relay always revives with less Energy.

If multiple Revives are stacked, they happen in the following order: Cookie skills except for Pirate Cookie Pirate Cookie, Pet skills, Red Egg of Resurrection Red Egg of Resurrection, Winged Jelly of Resurrection Winged Jelly of Resurrection, and Ghost Pirate is always last, even activating after Last Blast.

Energy Bar[]

Energy bar

A cropped screenshot of the Energy Bar.

The Energy Bar is the yellow and orange striped meter at the top of the screen during the game. As would be expected, it displays the amount of Energy the Cookie has left. The energy bar is visibly shorter for Cookies with 245 or less Energy, and starting from the Season 7 update, being around half the previous maximum length which extended all the way to being near the pause button on 16:9 width landscape or narrower from before. When Energy is restored by a skill rather than a Potion or revive, it will show as a solidly colored cyan on the bar, with a subtle bubble effect. When the Cookie is almost out of Energy, the bar will flash along with the screen, and this can be utilized to estimate the amount of collision damage during a run, as evidenced by the bar constantly flashing in infinite collision damage or run ends in collision runs starting from the Yogurt Dunes Escapade update.

There are other situations where the Energy Bar is utilized. For example, if Bonus Time is entered while in this critical health mode, it will take the Cookie to Special Bonus Time. Purple Yam Cookie Purple Yam Cookie has a unique function connected to his energy bar. When his Energy is low enough, shown by the purple section split from the rest of the bar, he enters Berzerk Mode and his skill can be used much more often. Sorbet Shark Cookie Sorbet Shark Cookie also has a unique function at low Energy, shown by the blue section split from their Energy bar. On the other hand, if their Energy is low enough, they earn more points destroying underwater enemies their Skill and dashes much faster. Thundersnow Yeti Thundersnow Yeti's skill visually freezes the Energy bar in ice when active.

In the first half of the Undercover at Jade Galaxy! update, the Energy bar received a new design, which can be enabled in the Lab section of the in-game settings. Each tick, and the last three seconds before dropping to zero are now displayed, allowing players to time jumps to grab items, gain additional restoration effects or reach another Skill more easily.

Friendship Energy[]

Friendship Energy can be exchanged with friends in Breakout Mode. Exchanging Friendship Energy will give one extra Energy to both friends' Cookies, or two extra Energy if the players are Facebook friends. Friendship Energy can be exchanged with multiple friends to add up to 20 extra starting Energy, which will apply to all Cookies run in the Breakout Episode until the next Breakout Reward.

Friendship Energy was removed in exchange for more balanced Energy Drain for the Breakout Episode during The Isle of Awakening Dragons update.

Trivia[]

  • Some Cookies and Pets have a built in gimmick where they can either decrease or increase Energy drain, this can be seen with the #EnergySpeed tag.
    • Though uniquely, only Vampire Cookie Vampire Cookie and Pistachio Cookie Pistachio Cookie have a gimmick where they have a higher Energy drain. All the other Cookies decrease Energy drain instead.
  • The chests spawned from the Perfect Treasure Map Perfect Treasure Map occasionally contain healing Jellies. This is the only Treasure to restore Energy without a revive.
  • No Treasures reduce Energy drain. On the contrary, the Cursed Goblet Cursed Goblet increases it.
  • Bone-afide Multivitamin Jelly Bone-afide Multivitamin Jelly has a unique gimmick where its cooldown shortens the more the Cookie's Energy decreases throughout the run.
  • In the Curious Rainbow Mine, Energy does not drain for a long period of time, but also cannot be restored using Potions. Some other Events have featured maps with no Energy loss, like Cookie Detective: Solve the Mystery, or some of the stages in the Tower of Frozen Waves.
  • The starting Energy of Cookies is the only difference between them that effects gameplay on most stages of the Island of Memories.
  • Not counting revive animations, the maximum duration a Cookie could run on the field for is 16 minutes and 40 seconds, as seen through the use of the Blast Power Jellies from destroying obstacles buff with Lemon Cookie Lemon Cookie in the first season of Fragrant Lotus Paradise Random Challenge[1], before the buff's subsequent rework. The run will end immediately when the Cookie touches the ground (although the Cookie can perform a final jump mid-air before that to go at least one or two seconds longer) with the Cookie’s Energy reverted to 0 upon reaching the maximum duration regardless of Energy or revives remaining.
    • However, the running time could go longer than 16m 40s by entering Bonus Time through the usage of Bonus Time buffs.
