“ To Sugarteara! The grand jewel of the sea!! „ — Lobster Cookie
Lost City of Sugarteara (Korean: 해저도시 슈가티어, haejodosi syugatio) is a Breakout Episode released in the first half of the Secrets of the Lost City update, as part of the Season 5 celebrations for Cookie Run OvenBreak. This Episode focuses on traversing through the ocean's depths, stumbling across various aquatic creatures until finally reaching Sugarteara, a fallen city which used to be the home of several underwater Cookies, such as Lobster Cookie,
Mocha Ray Cookie, and
Octopus Cookie.
Currently, this Breakout Episode is part of the Weekly Roundup 1 Episodes, which were added in the first half of the Lights, Camera, Action! update.
Additionally, by collecting Jellies in this Episode, players can unlock the Lost City of Sugarteara story cutscenes.
Gameplay Elements[]
Lost City of Sugarteara hosts a variety of unique gameplay elements, which encompasses the following:
Submarine[]

Unique to this Breakout Episode is the addition of a submarine mechanic that can be found at the end of its various stages. Instead of the traditional Bonus Times like with some of the older Breakout Episode, the Cookie will simply enter the submarine, starting a new sequence of the map.
Inside the submarine, Energy does not drain, and the player has the option to either press the Jump button to slightly manuever the submarine (for Jelly collection), or pressing the Slide button to lessen the submarine's descent to the ground floor.
This submarine mechanic would later be re-used for the Breakout Episode's direct sequel, Deep Sea City Wandercrab, as well as getting a Treasure that is based around its aesthetics, being Bubbly Submarine.
Bosses[]

Additionally, this Breakout Episode hosts two bosses in the last two stages of it, a sea golem in the Passage to Sugarteara, and an unnamed pearl guardian in the Gleaming Crystal Temple.
Sea Golem[]
At the beginning of Passage to Sugarteara, the sea golem launches an onslaught of obstacles. As the Cookie progresses deeper into the passage, the golem's attacks grow increasingly fierce, ultimately leading to a giant laser charge. To stop this attack, the Cookie must collect three special crystal Jellies, which deactivate the golem. If the Cookie fails to gather all three, the golem will unleash its unavoidable laser, inflicting immediate damage.
Unnamed Pearl Guardian[]
In the Gleaming Crystal Temple, a giant pearl guardian appears in the background right from the start and remains there throughout the entire run, which is unlike previous bosses. This pearl guardian continuously harnesses dark energy, and once fully charged, it fires a giant laser that rotates to a certain degree before stopping. The rotating laser immediately damages the Cookie if they are within its radius. Afterward, the pearl guardian resets its energy and begins the harnessing process again.

There are two main ways to halt the pearl guardian's relentless attacks. First, the Cookie can collect the "Power Down" Jellies scattered throughout the map. Each Jelly slightly diminishes the dark energy harnessed by the pearl guardian. Additionally, if the Cookie moves fast enough or possesses a unique mechanic that exploits the generation of these Jellies, they can gather enough of them to temporarily deactivate the pearl guardian.
Second, the player can use the pearl guardian's laser attacks to their advantage. By continually avoiding the charged-up laser, the pearl guardian's energy will reset without causing any damage to the Cookie.
Additionally, the Cookie can also bypass the laser attack entirely if they are on Blast, or Giant Mode, as well as during any skill that grants some sort of invulnerability.

1. Sunrise at the Tower[]The first stage has the Tower of Frozen Waves in the background, and uses obstacles from the interior of the Tower. A new mechanic in this stage are altars, which when stepped on will freeze water or crab obstacles, creating ice that speeds the Cookie up. Like the inside of the Tower, there are plenty of Frozen Bear Jellies. There are three small Potions in total, and one large Potion at the end. This is followed by a tall icy ramp to a springboard, that bounces the Cookie up and then down into the ocean. |

2. Sea Turtle Cove[]In the ocean, the Cookie falls to a coral reef. The first half of the stage has small tropical fish and large puffer fish to avoid, large groups of Pink Bear Jellies, and buttons which create giant Gold Coins. The second half has squid and groups of sea horses with complex movement patterns. After a large Potion is the first of two submarine sequences, with fish designs made of Bear Jellies and no obstacles. |

3. Secret Highway of the Whales[]The next stage features friendly whales, both in the background and as platforms to ride on top of. Their flat backs make them resemble finback whales. While riding the whales, the Cookie needs to avoid schools of fish and larger swordfish. There are also narrow tunnel segments with shells, sea urchins, and kelp which the cookie can get caught in. This stage has a very high amount of Rainbow Bear Jellies, so the |

5. Deep-Sea Expanse[]The fifth stage is deep enough to be nearly completely dark, with only the light of obstacles and glowing orbs previously seen in the Tower. When enough glowing orbs are collected, a large anglerfish skeleton can be seen in the background, similar to the one in Blazing Sand Desert. Obstacles include skeletons of large fish, lures of anglerfish that only reveal the angler when you get close, and swimming sea slugs. Two thirds into the stage, there is a warning of "KRAKEN!!" written in Bear Jellies. After this, large glowing tentacles stick out from above, below and in front, remove floor sections, drop huge amounts of Frozen Bear Jellies from the ceiling, and pound the floor to create a shock wave. There is one large Potion during the stage and one at the end, which is actually the lure of a giant anglerfish, and the Cookie has no recourse but to enter the mouth of the monster. |

6. Belly of the Deep-Sea Terror[]the interior of the giant angler fish is full of trash, including furniture and even entire ships. Clotheslines are amusingly strung between rib obstacles, and Alphabet Jellies make designs throughout the stage. Scared fish pirates slowly walk around or hang onto other obstacles, and green stomach acid rises and falls as the level progresses, making the stage shorter and taller. This is another Power Jelly focused stage, and there are three mini Potions, one on the clothesline and two on ships. This is the first stage in a Cookie Run game set inside a giant creature since the Innerspace section of the first OvenBreak. |

7. Passage to Sugarteara[]The Cookie somehow escapes the belly of the beast and arrives at the entrance to Sugarteara. In the first section, large columns serve as obstacles and rise from the ground as platforms. Oysters with shiny, spinning bear lures will clamp shut if their lure is touched, but the Cookie can slide under it and be unharmed. Most of the stage is dedicated to the Sea Golem, who pounds its fists to drop debris and bombs. Later sections of the stage have moving floors, some of which are controlled by buttons. The Sea Golem charges an attack, and the Cookie needs to grab three crystals to deactivate it. If they do not, it causes an explosion on the entire screen. There is one mini Potion, near the halfway point. |

Trivia[]
- It's likely that Lost City of Sugarteara is inspired by the mythical underwater city of Atlantis.
- In addition, some of the Episode's aesthetics, most notably the Bear Jelly statues, seem to be taken from the Mystic Jewels found in Chapter 2 of Escape from the Oven.
It's always watching you.
- This is likely made for player convenience, as the player would know how much dark energy the pearl has harnessed, instead of it being obscured during the Cookie's, or Pet's, or Treasure's skills.
- The clotheslines in Belly of the Deep-Sea Terror have socks or other small garments with a
Zombie Cookie design on them.
