Gameplay[]
The gameplay consists of controlling one of two Cookies, by jumping and sliding to dodge obstacles and pits. The upper right corner of the game displays up to 5 hearts (depending on how many you've purchased). If you have not purchased any hearts, there will be two. When a cookie hits an obstacle, it takes one heart and the cookie restarts near the spot where they got hit. If the cookie is hit when there are 0 hearts remaining, the game is over. The player can also swing off of objects in mid-air by jumping and pressing the hook button (which appears where the slide button was when you jump) when they are near to or on the object. As you run, the speed gets higher slowly.
Cookies[]
The game has two playable Cookies, GingerBrave and his brother Dozer. Both cookie have similar play styles as they both have no special abilities. GingerBrave is playable in all game modes except Prologue, the only mode where Dozer is playable.
Jellies[]
There are three types of Jellies in OvenBreak, orange and green basic jellies, letter jellies that spell the word FREEDOM, and Gummies, also known as Super Jellies. Spelling out the word FREEDOM will multiply the players score or grant an extra heart if needed. Super Jellies grant the player an extra 2000 points.
Gummies[]
Gummies, also known as the Super Jelly, act as the currency of the game. They are used to unlock new modes in the Android version, or continue a run if the player gets a game over. They are collected when the player collects Super Jellies and makes it the the endpoint of a mode. If you are playing on an Infinity mode, they will be collected after you lose. You could have also purchased them in the Android version or by logging in to your Com2Us account.
Game Modes[]
Each mode can be unlocked by completing the previous mode. In the Android version, you also have to buy them using Gummies.
Prologue[]
The prologue acts as a tutorial to the game, showing the player how to jump, slide, and hook onto obstacles. It features Dozer and has an endpoint.
Training[]
A simple mode with different stages leading to an endpoint. It is meant to help players prepare for the challenge mode unlocked after beating this mode.
Challenge[]
A harder version of Training mode.
Witch's Loop[]
This is an infinity mode, and in the first version of the updated OvenBreak this stage was exclusive to the free version.
Universe[]
A mode themed around outer space. It is similar to training mode. In the first version of the updated OvenBreak, you would be able to jump into a portal which would take you to an infinity mode, which would eventually become Eternal in future versions.
Eternal[]
Eternal is an endless mode. You unlock it after Universe.
Christmas[]
A Christmas themed level similar to training and universe mode. You unlock it in all versions by liking a FaceBook post which has since been taken down.
Gut Instinct[]
A mode where GingerBrave travels inside the Witch’s stomach after hearing Dozer call for help. The player has to collect food to stop the acid from getting too high. They can do this by either collecting enough Jellies or Gummies to get a large hotdog, or by collecting french fries and burgers scattered across the level. If the acid gets too high, Gingerbrave will drown. In this mode, if Gingerbrave still has a heart remaining, he will simply continue after being hit instead of having to respawn.
Broken Hearts[]
A mode where Gingerbrave enters The Witch's heart. In this level, an unknown figure (often referred to as the Axe Man) with an axe will chase Gingerbrave. When The Axe Man catches up to Gingerbrave, he will strike his axe down and you will lose. To avoid this, you have to find green tiles which will speed Gingerbrave up, but there are also red tiles which will slow you down and bring The Axe Man closer. There are also tiles which will make you auto-jump.
Summer Special[]
Around July 2012, OvenBreak collaborated with Skittles to create a mode featuring Skittles. Jellies are replaced with skittles. There were also skittle packets which would give you 2000 extra points. There is also a rainbow path the player can walk on that speeds them up. After the partnership was over, Summer Special was kept, but Skittles were replaced with multicolored Jellies, and there was nothing to replace the skittle packets. The rainbow path, however, was kept.
