“ What caused a blizzard in the Yogurt Dunes? „ — Yogurt Cream Cookie
Sands of Yogurca (Korean: 사막도시 요구르카, samakttosi yogureuka) is a Breakout Episode released in the first half of the Sands of Yogurca update for Cookie Run: OvenBreak. This Episode focuses on Yogurca, a city that lays near the border of the Yogurt Dunes. It is the home to multiple Cookies and wildlife, the most notable being Yogurt Cream Cookie,
Lilac Cookie,
Scorpion Cookie, and
Thundersnow Yeti along with its relatives at the icy mountains.
Being the second Main Breakout Episode to be released (after Escape from the Oven), this Episode introduces a new mechanic previously unseen in Cookie Run: OvenBreak, being the crossroads mechanic, which allows the player to choose between two separate stages at certain points of the Episode, allowing for further replayability and experimentation with various Cookies, Pets and Treasures. This Breakout Episode was later rotated out once Lost City of Sugarteara released, and would occasionally rotate in over the years until finally settling as part of the Weekly Round Up 1 Episodes, which was introduced in the Lights, Camera, Action! update.
Occasionally, this Episode would also appear as a Random Challenge season, with its primary gimmicks centering around Coins.
Gameplay Elements[]
Crossroads[]

What to choose?
As mentioned previously, Sands of Yogurca introduced a completely unique gimmick previously unseen in the game, which was the crossroads. Crossroads are transitional segments that lie at the end of certain stages of the Episode, which is signified by the forced disabling of all skills during it.
The following stages contain the aforementioned crossroads segments at the end:
- 1: Yogurca Harbor
- 2-1: Radiant Desert Sun
- 2-2: Lively Morning Bazaar
- 3: Bustling Yogurt Road
- 4-1: Mansion Entrance
- 5-1: Overgrown Garden
- 5-2: Hallway of Treasures
- 4-2: Backstreets
- 5-1: Overgrown Garden
- 5-2: Hallway of Treasures
- 4-1: Mansion Entrance
- 6: Snowy Yogurt Dunes
- 7-1: Cold Desert Winds
- 7-2: Frozen Oasis

Cocoa Cookie manually jumping on the carpet to advance to the next stage.
Previously, crossroads required the Cookie to manually run towards or jump to a specific platform to advance. For instance, in Yogurca Harbor, the Cookie had to jump and ride a flying carpet to transition to the next stage, Radiant Desert Sun. However, following the In the Shadows of the Dunes update, this system was overhauled. Instead of manually allowing the Cookie to transition across the stages, players are now taken to a separate screen at the crossroads segment. Here, they can simply tap and hold over the stage they wish to proceed to. This change was likely made to prevent any mishaps that could occur when the Cookie runs and jumps whilst their skills are forcibly disabled.
This gameplay gimmick would later also be reused for the Breakout Episode's direct sequel, Yogurca: Secrets of Mirage Village.

1. Yogurca Harbor[]The first stage of the Breakout is the harbor, opening with Bear Jellies writing out "New World". This stage features chests full of Coins that can be opened with Power Jellies, a mechanic previously seen in the later parts of Black Sugar Pirate Ship. Moving obstacles include fishing nets in the air and jumping lobsters in the ocean. There are many holes between the docks and small boats in the early parts of the stage, though the ground becomes more solid as the stage continues, with later sections having piles of crates that can be used to get to Rainbow Bear Jellies. The stage ends with a large Potion and the first crossroads. A magic carpet flies above the ground, and jumping onto it will take the Cookie to Radiant Desert Sun, while staying on the ground path leads to Lively Morning Bazaar. |

2-1. Radiant Desert Sun[]![]() Radiant Desert Sun takes place high above the street. There are very large gaps throughout the stage, but the magic carpet stays below the runner, keeping them safe. There are tall towers that must be double jumped over and birds flying around, some of them carrying Jellies with them. One bird flying higher up holds a small Potion, and birds carry Blast Jellies near the end. The stage starts with some rooftops to run across, which gives way to cloud platforms. There are many Rainbow Bear Jellies and Bear Jelly Parties in the sky, and some of the Bear Jelly Parties are off the Jelly path. The stage concludes with a large Potion and Bear Jellies writing "Good Bye" followed by a roof leading to the next stage. |

2-2. Lively Morning Bazaar[]![]() The alternative to Radiant Desert Sun is an outdoor marketplace called Lively Morning Bazaar. The city environment means the stage is very flat and not very dangerous, though there are multiple levels in some parts and some Blast Jelly segments. The focus of the stage is shops run by parrots, where Coins can be exchanged for gems worth millions of points, or for helpful power-ups. Running out of Energy and switching to the next Cookie between shops can present an issue, as all power-ups bought are lost and the Coin count resets. Coin gaining Treasures such as |

3. Bustling Yogurt Road[]No matter what path the Cookies take after the Harbor, the third stage will always be Bustling Yogurt Road. The road is another flat stage, but it is more dangerous, as it is full of Yogurcan citizens wielding spears and there are many horse drawn carriages to ride or avoid. Again there are sections with multiple levels, but now there is traffic on both of them. Trapdoors open up to let the Cookie drop down to the lower level. The stage ends with a large drawbridge falling down to let them cross and a spearman who falls off the screen to get out of the way, followed by the next crossroad. The upper path here can be taken to the Mansion Entrance or the lower path can be taken to the Backstreets. |

5-1. Overgrown Garden[]![]() The name of the Overgrown Garden hints at its main mechanic. Large bushes obscure the view throughout the stage, and jellies and power-ups will move behind the shrubbery. Yellow Bear Parties, Frozen Bear Jellies, and Rotten Bear Parties will move behind the bushes to hide what effect they have, and the player needs to remember the location of the Rotten Bear Parties to avoid hitting them and losing potential points. Green buttons can be pressed to cause the plants to recede in the sections where they cover the whole screen, or to show what Jellies are behind nearby bushes. There is a variety of obstacles, birds that look like bananas in birdcages or flying around, thick creeping vines, and fish-shaped fountain heads that squirt water, which are hidden behind bushes later on. The last section of the stage has rose bushes creating a lower ceiling, and monkeys that run and jump at the Cookies. Power Jellies are helpful in collecting the Bear Jellies here, but they can't all be grabbed at the same time without a magnet. There are four small potions in this stage, with the fourth one right at the end before the warm garden ends and the Snowy Yogurt Dunes begin. |

5-2. Hallway of Treasures[]![]() The Hallway of Treasures shows Yogurt Cream Cookie's collection. Obstacles have large gemstones embedded in them, and valuable scoring gems are found in containers resembling Fabergé eggs. Coin Magic and Giant Jellies can be used to break the containers, but care needs to be taken to not touch the many red buttons in the stage, as they will cause the floor to shake and the gems to fall before the Cookie can reach them. Dodging the buttons and landing on small platforms requires some precise double jumps. The back of the Hallway, like the Overgrown Garden, leads out into the Snowy Yogurt Dunes. |

6. Snowy Yogurt Dunes[]The first signs of the blizzard are seen in the Snowy Yogurt Dunes. Large piles of snow resembling yogurt or ice cream are in the way, and the cold environment means there are plenty Frozen Bear Jellies to collect. The floor for much of the stage is small moving platforms which are replaced with flat ground later on, with the Cookie running on a level slightly above the ground. This section features a Yogurcan that runs along the ground and throws swords at the Cookie, which boomerang back at them. The stage ends with the Cookie breaking through a number of walls and grabbing a large Potion before the final crossroads. There is the choice of a tunnel leading to the Cold Desert Winds on the lower path, or an uphill path leading to the Frozen Oasis. |

7-1. Cold Desert Winds[]![]() The blizzard picks up in the Cold Desert Winds. Many huge icicles have formed in the desert, both stalagmites and stalactites, with more forming right as the Cookie runs by. The few Yogurcans seen hanging on ropes have runny noses, and look tired from the cold. Many knives fly through the air, directed at the runner. Four small potions and one large one help keep Energy reserves up. Past the large potion after the halfway point, the floor and ceiling close in slightly giving less room to dodge the last group of Yogurcans and the biggest torrent of knives. After the enclosed corridor ends, small platforms on top of more icicles lead to the final small potion and the Yeti's Frozen Burrow. |

7-2. Frozen Oasis[]![]() Heavy snow falls in the background, and cacti and palm trees encased in ice are found throughout, even from the top of the screen. Frozen coconuts fall down from the trees. The Frozen Oasis is a more vertically oriented stage where the camera is zoomed out for the entire time. This stage has ice floors which speed the Cookie up noticeably, and long or high double jumps from the ice are required in many spots to cross gaps. More Ice Bear Jellies are found here as well as plenty of Rainbow Bear Jellies placed along the arcs of jumps. Near the end of the level a small Potion is hidden behind some obstacles under a higher ice platform before a series of long jumps between very small icy platforms. This is folowed by a few more easier jumps and another small potion before the final stage. |

8. Fierce Yeti's Burrow[]As the end of the Breakout, Fierce Yeti's Burrow is a difficult stage with plenty of obstacles and tight jumps. The giant Yeti appears throughout the stage to attack the Cookies, shooting an ice beam from its mouth and pounding the ground, creating holes and knocking down icicles. Some of the icicles need to be destroyed with Coin Magic powers that are difficult to grab. The Yeti is accompanied by snow monsters it has created, who block the path or hold platforms and throw them upwards when Cookies run across them. Flying yeti enemies also aim at the runners, with crosshairs showing where they aim and when they're about to charge. If the Cookie survives to the end of the stage, Bear Jellies spelling out "The End?" mark the point where Light Spheres no longer appear about halfway through the stage, and after the second time "The End?" appears the stage will loop. |
